Its Been Awhile...
Its been awhile since I posted anything on my blog. In between this post and the previous, most of you might have known that I made a trip down to KL with my mom for 9 days. So far, it has been the longest time I have ever been away from home. Here's a rough guide to how my trip went.
Day 1 :
I rushed home from school, packed my bag and was off. Dad took us to a famous teochew restaurant down opposite Golden Mile Shopping Centre. Not bad, but not fantastic either. The bus ride was especially long, starting at 2.30 pm and ending at 8.30 pm. In Singapore, everywhere we travel, see cars, buses, human activity, etc. Take a good stare at the sky for a change. Its beautiful, the changes, in weather, time, makes the sky... Beautiful. Traffic in KL in really bad, there's always a jam when your in ntown. I stayed at my grandmother's place for the whole time, KL : Cheras, Jalan Taman Bukit Permai 4, Vista Paranoma. Watched FightClub. Bloody interesting show.
Day 2 :
Besides watching moves every now and then, I also went to Sungei Wang. Innocent little me, was told everything was cheap, so, I thought everything was cheap. Bought a pair of jeans ( RM 112 ), a Non-Workable Worms CD ( RM 12 ), A set of really comfortable, but low sound quality earphones ( RM 92 ), A bodyfit Shirt for Victor ( RM 59 ). I was so sure it was cheap at that time. I found out that KFC is really cheap in Malaysia, the price was the same, just that the curency was different. Also, as KFC sold like hotcakes, the chicken was always freshly fried and tasted real good.
Day 3 :
We went to my mom's cousin's house, she is a masseur, and her 2 sons are hairdressers. I went with them to a park at the nearby stadium, and walked about, then got a haircut. I went there to get a haircut and to sleep. Mom and her cousin was rattling on and on non-stop about their Tai - Ji and their breathing techniques. Kinda lame. Ok. Very Very Lame. The poor maid was cleaning the house for the whole time. we went there to eat the mixed rice, the jia cai peng. THe difference was that at that place, you scoop the amount of meat or vegetables you want to eat, then you pay at the counter. Kinda cool. I went on to try the Malaysian Da Pao, it was enormous, so I thought. Its diameter was around 15 cm, and I liked it very much. Cool Pao.
Day 4 :
We went to a coffeeshop that was run by one of my mom's cousin. Ate and drank free stuff there. Ate the malaysian Wanton Mee. Its kinda different from the normal. It doesn't make use of tomato ketchup or chili sause. They use soya sause and other stuff, I'm not very sure of it. Its still nice. The Milo-Peng there is twice as thick. Maybe they don't really have such high rental fees over there. I went to my favourite grand uncle's home. Before I knew it, I was rushed home to get some things for a short trip to Genting Highlands. Had fun there. Grand uncle was gambling at the casino, and Mom and I watched a pathetic illusionist try and amuse us with his third-grade tricks. We had lots to eat over there. The place was so cold, it felt like a strog air-con at 18 degrees with a high speed fan blowing at you. The mist there is cool. It feels like you're in the clouds.
Day 5 :
We went to eat Dim Sum at a restaurant in the morning. Made Mom sit a roller-coaster rider with me. I was screaming my lungs out, having fun, and Mom was praying and keeping her eyes shut. I bought a Duffel Bag which I liked very much ( RM 69.90 ). Went back, and went to a nearby Pasar Malam. Bought a Quiksilver sleeveless( RM 18 ) , and a nice cushion ( RM 10 ). I wanted to see alot more stuff, but Mom wasted all out time trying to get a track pants down from RM 30 to RM 28. Jeez. Man its 1 buck. I wanted to get a fake gucci wallet for Gina, but mom didn't want to buy anything for her. She doesn't want to buy anything for anyone. Giam Siap.
Day 6 :
I went to a Morning market this time. Its much nicer. Less clothing and more food. Main differences between the markets in Singapore and the markets in Malaysia is that Singaporean Markets are sheltered by concrete, Malysian Markets are sheltered by giant umbrellas brought from home. Singaporean markets sell mainly only meat, vegetables, seafood and fruits. Malaysian markets sell all types of breads, cooked food, CDs, and Live Chickens. The main Language used in Singaporean Markets is Chinese, but in malaysia, you use ONLY cantonese.
Mom cooked her roast pork, hard and fatless as usual. Not bad still. Mom's cousin came to stay over for a night and I was chased out of my room for a night. Bought a basketball shorts to match my basketball jersey ( RM 10 ).
Day 7 :
I had the nicest vegetarian food ever. Mom dragged me to the market again, and saw a whole carpark of vegetabnle stalls. Mom nevers stops haggling. We went to JusCo in the afternoon, and complained very much about the service we were given. People were walking around the stor with a live shotgun. It was scarey because the person wielding it reminded me of a mad man. Bought 2 pairs of bermudas ( RM 23.90 each ), a top for Gina ( RM 15 ). We ate at a place called the Laksa Place. Sold all types of laksas like Curry Laksa, Melaka Laksa, Singapore Laksa, Asam Laksa. Quite cool.
Day 8 :
Went back to Sungei Wang to get some clothes for Andrew and Victor. We got andrew a pair of sandblasted jeans with a nice design ( RM 99 ), although I was supposed to get him a pair of washed jeans. I got Victor 2 V-neck tees ( one for RM 9 and the other for RM 36 ). I had a garguantous KFC meal there and we made out way to the night market, Chinatown : Xu Cheong Kai. That place was the most interesting yet. With Mom's pro haggling around, all the prices were cut by at least 60%. We bought a very nice yellow nike hooded jacket ( RM 25 ). A pair of white boardshorts ( RM 18 ). A Lois Vuiton belt ( I haggled for this until it was RM 18 ). A billabong shirt ( RM 18 ). Now thats dirt cheap.
Day 9 :
On the way back, it was a rough ride. But I was glad to be back at home, with the nice smelling drains, the smooth highways, the efficient transport services. Rain was at my house. Man, why did I have to see her again. Couldn't be with darling baby that day. HaiZ. She was the only one that kept me company the whole time.
Maybe I'm over Rain. I seriously hope so. I wish so.
